NBA Rant: Eclipse
D’Antoni just quit on the Knicks! and why do you think that is? two words; Carmelo Anthony. This kid is chemistry poison. Sure, Melo puts up numbers but he also takes A LOT of shots TO GET THOSE NUMBERS. i don’t really have a problem with that, per say, but there is a time and place for it. In the fourth quarter, during tight games, sure, give the ball to Melo and get out of the way. During the second quarter with 9 to go, there is no reason why Anthony should dominate 20 seconds of the 24 second clock! your point guard should touch the ball EVERY POSSESSION, especially when he’s a good as Jeremy Lin. Look at how the Knicks perform without Melo. Before the trade last year, STAT was a goddamn MVP candidate. after Melo? sh*t. Melo went down with injury this season and then LINSANITY happens. Melo comes back, and they lose, what, 5 straight? 8 of the last 10, overall?
The common denominator is Carmelo Anthony. The cat is team-ball poison. all he’s concerned with is putting up shots and ignoring defensive assignments. sh*t’s ridiculous. That mess flied in Denver because that was his team. They built a squad around him to absorb that selfishness. the Knicks are not Melo’s team. Carmelo refuses to understand that. D’Antoni tried to address these issues but he’s f*cking Carmelo Anthony. the Knicks traded away half of their team to get him! dude is going to do what he wants. He’s essentially bulletproof at this point. between his soiled rep as a ball hog and that loaded ass contract, there is very little that can be done about Anthony so, D’Antoni made a move. What does this mean for the Knicks? Absolutely nothing. D’antoni and his ridiculous system was only a small part of the problem. The Knicks aren’t going to win because Carmelo Anthony doesn’t believe in passing the goddamn ball.
Trade Melo. or at least try to. That’s how you right the Knickerbockers. run a traditional pick and roll system between STAT and Tyson chandler. When you need instant offense, you got JR Smith. The Knicks are a solid, complete team as they are now but the team can’t shine if one player’s ego keeps eclipsing them.
Pau Gasol is expendable. Sorry big fella. The LAkers can win with anyone in the 4 as long as they get 100 percent out of Andrew Bynum. Bynum is the future of the LAers, yo. He’s every bit as good as Dwight Howard, probably more so because he’s a dick, and as long as that kid is getting his Shaq on, the LAkers can contend. Bynum shores up the middle nicely and adds a tenacity that has been missing inside the LAker paint for some time. This frees up that Gasol asset. I say trade away while his worth is high and get some youth. you need a point guard and a bench. maybe a 3 that can get you the open jumper. forget D-12. Deal with Houston. Get Lowry and Scola plus some other pieces to bolster the bench. sh*t also frees up some of that precious cap space. Think about it; Lowry, Bryant, Scola, and Bynum. yeah, i like that look. Do not make the same mistake Orlando is making right now. sign Bynum long term and build around the kid. his time is coming sooner than you think and it would be foolish to let the second best center in the entire NBA go, because Kobe is upset that his BFF is in Houston.
The Bucks are the new Warriors. yo, the obvious winner in this ridiculous trade between Oakland and Milwaukee is the Warriors. you free up your backcourt for Curry to roam AND acquire a franchise big in the process? f*ck yeah! Mark Jackson finally has the pieces necessary to transform that team from the ridiculous shoot-first-and-never-stop-shooting team to a defensive, half court, PLAYOFF PREP squad. the Bucks, however, are in the exact same position the Warriors just left; two possession heavy guards running around in their backcourt, not even playing any semblance of D, with no legitimate post presence down low to deter penetration. Outstanding move, fellas. unless this is a stepping stone toward other, immediate moves, the Bucks just stepped in it.
Trade Carmelo Anthony. Trade Carmelo Anthony.
